Earthquake in Jaipur: Three Terrifying Jolts at Magnitude 4.4, Panic Grips Residents, Central Jaipur Affected

Early morning tremors shook the people of Jaipur as three terrifying jolts struck within 16 minutes, leaving residents fearful. The earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale, causing people to rush out of their homes and apartments and seek safety in open areas. The intensity of the tremors was such that it sounded like heavy machinery and dumpers were running nearby, causing a significant disturbance. The fear and panic led many to stay outside their homes for an hour, fearing another aftershock. After the initial jolt at 4:38 AM, two more quakes were felt, each after a few minutes, compounding the anxiety among the residents.

Thankfully, there have been no reports of casualties or significant damage in Jaipur so far. However, reports of stones falling and loud noises have emerged from the Nahargarh hills in the aftermath of the quake.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the first earthquake hit at 4:09 AM with a magnitude of 4.4. The second followed at 4:22 AM with a magnitude of 3.2, and the third at 4:25 AM with a magnitude of 3.4.

The impact of the earthquake was most strongly felt in areas from Jaipur to Khatushyamji. People from this region have been busy calling their relatives residing in other states and districts to check on their well-being. Many have resorted to WhatsApp video calls to ensure the safety of their loved ones.

In Jaipur city’s Parakota area, people gathered on the streets to recite the Hanuman Chalisa seeking divine protection after the earthquake. The Ramganj Bazaar witnessed a considerable crowd as well. Panic spread across various areas, including C Scheme, Sodala, Jagatpura, Mansarovar, Pratap Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Tonk Road, Sanganer, Murlipura, Sikar Road, Ajmer Road, Delhi Road, and Agra Road, with people coming out of their homes and apartments. The earthquake created an atmosphere of excitement and curiosity among residents, who discussed the incident animatedly.

Unfortunately, during the chaos and panic at the Chandpol Police Lines, around 10-15 policemen sustained injuries, adding to the challenges faced by the authorities.

As of now, the situation in Jaipur is being closely monitored, and authorities are urging people to remain vigilant and prepared for any aftershocks. The earthquake has reminded everyone of the importance of earthquake preparedness and safety measures.

Jaipur’s earthquake has left its residents shaken, but their spirit remains strong as they come together to support each other and overcome this natural disaster.
